The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, David Lee, has announced a strict stance against the illegal occupation of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) homes. The government has decided to put the Regularisation Policy, which previously allowed long-term occupants to apply for legal status under certain conditions, on hold. The Ministry is set to take enforcement action against illegal occupants. The Minister emphasized that HDC homes should be allocated through a formal application and approval process. Illegal occupation not only undermines this process but also affects the chances of thousands of qualified applicants waiting for such homes. The Ministry urged citizens to seek housing assistance only through lawful means and warned against occupying state-owned properties without approval.
