Trinidad Extends Import Age Limit for Used Vehicles

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has revised the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, extending the maximum age limit for certain imported used vehicles from three years to eight years. This change, enacted through Legal Notice No. 477, expands the range of importable used vehicles, allowing those up to eight years from manufacture to be eligible for import and registration. Concurrently, the rules for electric vehicles have been updated. Only electric vehicles costing $400,000 or less will remain eligible under the new guidelines, while higher-priced electric vehicles will not qualify.
