The government is seeking a new cargo vessel to replace the Cabo Star as its contract is due to expire on January 12, 2026. The Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John confirmed that talks began after a June meeting with Tobago stakeholders. The new ship is expected to have enhanced features such as more cabins, increased passenger capacity, and faster service speed. An ongoing procurement process is now underway, aligned with the Cabo Star’s contractual obligations. Despite concerns raised by opposition figures, the government assures that measures are in place to prevent any inconvenience to Tobago residents.
