TTPS Seizes Over $3.4 Million in Cannabis During Western Division Operation

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has confiscated more than 31 kilogrammes of cannabis following an intelligence-driven anti-crime exercise carried out in the Western Division earlier today.

Between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday 3rd December, 2025, officers from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU)—including the Jungle Ops Team—along with the National Operations Task Force (N.O.T.F.) and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), executed a coordinated operation in forested areas off Upper La Horquette Valley Road, Glencoe.

The exercise was directed by Snr Supt Edwards, coordinated by Supt Etienne, and supervised by Supt Veronique, ASP Lynch, and ASP Morales. Officers searched rugged terrain on both the eastern and western sides of the valley, approximately two miles into the forest.

At the first site on the eastern side, officers located a blue barrel which contained:
•7 packages of marijuana weighing 13.80 kilogrammes
•30 rounds of 12-gauge cartridges
•13 rounds of 7.62 ammunition
•220 rounds of 5.56 ammunition
•1 extended magazine
•1 Glock speed loader
•2 holsters
•1 rifle sling

A second barrel found during searches on the western side held an additional 17.04 kilogrammes of compressed cannabis.

In total, 31.20 kilogrammes of marijuana were seized, carrying an estimated street value of $3,424,106.40.

Investigations remain ongoing as the TTPS follows all leads related to the discovery.
