The Government has separated itself from claims that entertainer and councilor John Michael Alibocus, known as Makamillion, was sent to influence election campaigns in neighboring Caribbean states. The controversy began when footage of Makamillion campaigning in St Lucia for the United National Congress surfaced online. A voice note allegedly from the artist suggested he was ‘mandated’ to spread the party’s message in St Lucia and St Vincent ahead of their elections. Foreign Affairs Minister Barry Padarath denied any involvement from the government, emphasizing that they do not interfere in other sovereign nations’ elections.
