Over $1M in Unpaid Gaming Taxes Found in San Fernando

A joint operation in the San Fernando district has uncovered over $1 million in unpaid gaming machine taxes. The operation, carried out on Thursday, November 20, was put into motion by Senior Superintendent Simon and supervised by Superintendent Jaikaran and ASP Chulhan, along with officers from the San Fernando Police Station and other local enforcement agencies. The focus was on licensed premises with gaming machines in the areas of La Romain, Woodland, Debe, and San Fernando. Numerous establishments were found to be in default and were issued payment notices for outstanding gaming taxes, with sums ranging from $18,000 to $318,000. The total amount of outstanding taxes identified during the operation was $1,086,000.00 TT. The police confirmed that the operation went smoothly and announced that such joint inspections will continue to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
