Levi Mohammed, a 14-year-old boy known for his courage in battling cancer, has passed away after making the profound decision to stop his treatment. His mother, Marissa Sarah Ali, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing her pride in Levi’s choice to embrace peace in his final days.
Levi had been fighting a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia since he was eight years old, facing numerous relapses and enduring extensive medical procedures, including two recent brain surgeries. Just days before his death, Marissa revealed that Levi opted to cease treatment altogether, wanting to spend his remaining time without the burden of further suffering.
Marissa conveyed her admiration for Levi’s decision, stating, “Cancer has taken enough from him. It will take no more. He is in full control. He deserves rest and peace now.” She emphasized that this time, unlike previous relapses filled with fear, there was a sense of calm, as Levi made the choice himself.
Describing her son’s strength and bravery, she highlighted that he had earned the right to make such a decision. “He’s earned it. In blood. In tears. In the very marrow of his bones,” she said. Levi’s journey and his final decision have resonated deeply with many, showcasing the realities of terminal illness and the power of choosing one’s own path.
