Pakistan Condemns Houthi Missile Attacks on Saudi Arabia at UNSC Emergency Meeting

Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Saudi Arabia at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), strongly condemning recent Houthi missile attacks on the kingdom while calling for dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation of the conflict in Yemen. Speaking during the emergency UNSC briefing on Monday, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, expressed Islamabad’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Security Council session was convened following a sharp escalation in Yemen after Houthi forces launched ballistic missile attacks toward southern Saudi Arabia, with Saudi authorities confirming that the missiles had been successfully intercepted. Ambassador Jadoon strongly condemned the attacks and emphasized that Pakistan stands firmly alongside Saudi Arabia during a period of heightened regional tensions. He urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful means to resolve their differences. Pakistan also reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Yemen, stressing that respect for international law must remain central to any political settlement. Islamabad urged all regional stakeholders to avoid further military escalation, warning that continued violence would only worsen instability across the Middle East. The ambassador underscored that a sustainable resolution can only be achieved through a Yemeni-led and Yemeni-owned political process facilitated by the United Nations. Highlighting the humanitarian crisis, Pakistan noted that millions of civilians suffer from prolonged violence and displacement, and warned that further escalation would deepen the emergency. Pakistan also condemned the detention of UN personnel by Houthi forces and called for their immediate release.
