The government has initiated a park-and-ride survey to revolutionize the transportation system. The survey, consisting of 12 questions about public travelling habits, was unveiled on the government’s communications page. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakour, announced plans to introduce the park-and-ride system in Arima, Chaguanas, Couva, and San Fernando, allowing people to park at safe locations and take public transportation into Port of Spain. Former Port of Spain mayor, Louis Lee Sing, who popularised the concept in 2012, praised this move. Lee Sing emphasized the need to find creative traffic management solutions in the face of resource scarcity. He also suggested implementing a one-way traffic system along the east-west corridor for better traffic management. Lee Sing applauds the government’s park-and-ride plan as progressive, urging the public to support it and give it time to work.
