Under the State of Emergency, police operations have resulted in the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition within a 24-hour period. The Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch officers conducted an intelligence-led operation in the Northern Division. Following a search at a residence in Arima, a Glock 23 pistol, a magazine and eight rounds of ammunition were confiscated, leading to the arrest of a 32-year-old man. Later in the night, officers carried out a separate operation at Kennedy Park, Picton. Here, a loaded Jericho 9mm pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition and 30 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were discovered in a blue garbage bin. These efforts are part of the police’s ongoing mission to eliminate illegal firearms and combat criminal activity during the State of Emergency.
