British Couple Drowns at Australia’s Shellharbour Beach

On March 11, 2026, a British couple’s vacation tragically ended when they drowned at Shellharbour Beach in New South Wales, Australia. Emergency services were alerted around 11:10 a.m. local time after reports of two distressed swimmers. Despite rescue efforts by the public and paramedics, the 66-year-old man and 64-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. The UK Foreign Office is providing consular assistance to the victims’ families and coordinating with Australian authorities in the ongoing investigation. The incident has prompted local officials to remind beachgoers of the unpredictable nature of regional surf conditions.
