Ashanti Closes Jazz In The Gardens With Soca Inspired Performance
Grammy Award winning singer Ashanti brought a touch of Caribbean energy to Miami when she closed her set at the Jazz In The Gardens Music Festival with a lively soca inspired performance.
The Billboard chart topping artist surprised fans by dancing to “The Road,” her collaboration with Trinidad and Tobago’s soca superstar Machel Montano. The moment instantly caught the attention of Caribbean fans as the singer leaned into the rhythm and spirit of soca music.
During the performance, Ashanti moved confidently across the stage, delivering playful dance moves including fast hip shakes and rhythmic body rolls. At one point she turned toward the crowd and dropped into a low stance while dancing as stage pyrotechnics sparked behind her, creating a carnival like atmosphere.
The performance reflected the growing global influence of Caribbean music, particularly soca, which has increasingly been featured at major international events and festivals.
Ashanti also made a strong visual statement with her stage outfit. She wore a bold electric blue look featuring a shiny textured jacket with a futuristic design, paired with black high waisted leather shorts that gave the ensemble a sleek and stylish appearance. Oversized black sunglasses added a superstar touch while her long braided hair flowed as she danced across the stage.
In a unique twist, the singer performed barefoot, adding to the relaxed Caribbean vibe of the moment. She also used a sparkly microphone that complemented the flashy aesthetic of her outfit.
Ashanti was one of several major artists who headlined this year’s Jazz In The Gardens festival. Her husband, rapper Nelly, was also among the performers featured at the event.
The performance quickly began circulating online, with many Caribbean fans praising the singer for embracing soca music and highlighting the collaboration with Machel Montano on an international stage.
