Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has pledged the country’s support for a new security alliance, the Americas Counter-Cartel Coalition, led by US President Donald Trump. This coalition aims to combat drug cartels across the Americas using lethal military force. The announcement was made at the Shield of the Americas Summit in Miami, which brought together leaders from South and Central America. Persad-Bissessar has previously shown strong support for US military efforts against narco-trafficking. The Prime Minister also took part in high-level discussions with US officials and regional leaders on topics such as energy security and regional cooperation. She stated that this strengthened alliance marks a historic step forward for the region’s safety.
