In a significant development for the Trinibad music scene, artistes K-Man and Plumpy Boss have signed a truce, signaling a potential shift in the longstanding rivalry associated with the movement. The announcement was made on Saturday, August 22, during a media briefing at the Tunapuna Constituency Office of Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander. Both artistes were present alongside Alexander and Justice Minister Devesh Maharaj.
K-Man, whose real name is Kashif Sankar, and Plumpy Boss, known offstage as Mescach Emmanuel, have both been embroiled in legal troubles, facing gang-related charges that remain allegations without convictions. Their personal histories are marked by violence, with Sankar surviving a 2023 attack that claimed four lives, and Emmanuel critically injured in a shooting in St Maarten in 2024.
The truce is being hailed as a potential turning point in reducing tensions and breaking the cycle of violence that has plagued the Trinibad movement. Over the years, the rivalry between factions has been linked to numerous violent incidents involving artistes and their associates.
The presence of government officials at the announcement underscores the importance of this agreement in the eyes of the authorities. It is hoped that this truce will pave the way for a more peaceful and collaborative future within the Trinibad community, fostering a safer environment for artistes and fans alike.
