Donald Trump recently posted a controversial image on social media, allegedly showing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in U.S. custody. The image depicts a man, identified as Maduro, blindfolded and seated, wearing casual clothes with headphones over his ears. The image, however, was not accompanied by any official documentation or confirmation from U.S. authorities. Online claims suggest that Maduro and his wife were captured in an early morning operation by U.S. forces amidst ongoing Venezuelan military and political tensions. However, there has been no independent confirmation from the U.S. Department of Defense, the White House, or Venezuelan officials regarding the authenticity of the image or the alleged capture. The Venezuelan government has yet to issue an official statement concerning the image or the claims. Given the rapidly unfolding events, international observers are urging caution, highlighting the high risk of misinformation. Investigations are still underway.
