**Six Arrested in Operation Beacon as Police Crack Down on Sexual Offences**
Police have charged six people with a range of serious sexual offences following a multi-division exercise dubbed *Operation Beacon*, conducted by the Special Victims Department (SVD).
Among those charged is a woman accused of sexually penetrating a 15-year-old girl she was babysitting. According to police reports, the accused appeared before the Chaguanas Master’s Court on five counts of sexual penetration and was granted bail with surety in the sum of $125,000. That matter was adjourned to May 6, 2026.
She also appeared before the Couva Master’s Court on two additional counts of sexual penetration, where she was granted bail with surety of $100,000. That case was adjourned to October 9, 2026.
In Region Two (Central Division), two people were arrested. A 21-year-old man from Endeavour was charged with seven counts of sexual penetration, stemming from incidents alleged to have occurred between August 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025. He appeared before the Chaguanas Master’s Court and was granted bail in the sum of $100,000. A sufficiency hearing has been set for April 29, 2026.
In Region Three, which comprises the South Western and Southern Divisions, three individuals were arrested and charged. In the first matter, a 47-year-old man from San Francique was charged with one count of sexual touching and one count of sexual penetration, allegedly committed on August 15, 2026. He appeared before Master Kimitria Gray of the South Master’s Court and was granted bail with surety of $85,000. A sufficiency hearing is scheduled for September 11, 2026.
Additionally, a 25-year-old man from Barrackpore was charged with two counts of sexual penetration, allegedly committed between October 25 and 26, 2024. He appeared before Master Sarah De Silva of the South Court and was granted bail with surety in the sum of $150,000.
A 30-year-old man also appeared before Master Persadsingh of the South Master’s Court, charged with three counts of sexual touching. He was granted bail with surety of $200,000. The matter was transferred to the Siparia Magistrates’ Court and is scheduled to be heard on February 25, 2026.
Meanwhile, in Region One—covering Port of Spain, the North Eastern Division, and the Western Division—one man was arrested and charged in relation to choking a victim following a heated argument. He appeared before Master Aida Mohammed on February 5, 2026, and was granted bail in the sum of $100,000. A sufficiency hearing is set for June 3, 2026.
Operation Beacon is being spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police Natasha George and Assistant Commissioner of Police Richard Smith. The exercise is being coordinated by Superintendent Darryl Ramdass, with assistance from Acting Assistant Superintendent Avril Francis.
