A tragic discovery was made near a New Grant residence on Monday morning as 26-year-old David Ramlakhan was found severely injured and lifeless in the nearby bushes. The location of the grim find was approximately 200 feet from his home. His relatives, who suspect assault as a possible cause of his injuries, were the ones to find him.
The local police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ramlakhan’s death. Awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination, they hope to determine the exact cause of his untimely death. The police were alerted to the incident around 5:25 p.m. after receiving a distressing call from Ramlakhan’s sister, Vidya.
Upon their arrival, officers were directed to the bushes where Ramlakhan was found. They reported observing severe injuries including abrasions to his face and injuries to his lower abdomen. Following this, a district medical officer examined the body and ordered its removal to a local funeral home. A post-mortem is to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park.
In the midst of their grief, Ramlakhan’s family is seeking answers. They believe he may have been brutally beaten and left in the bushes, and are calling for a robust and thorough investigation into what they suspect to be a fatal assault.
