A 21-year-old man, identified as Rayvaldo Matthew, is nursing injuries following a targeted shooting incident near his Belmont residence on the night of Sunday, 22nd March, 2026. Matthew was casually sitting on an empty beer crate along Serraneau Road around 7:20 p.m. when an unexpected turn of events unfolded. A dark green Kia SUV with heavily tinted windows pulled up nearby. A gunman, donned in black, reportedly alighted from the vehicle and opened fire. Matthew was shot in the leg before the assailant fled the scene in the waiting SUV. Good Samaritans, passers-by in the vicinity, wasted no time in rushing the wounded Matthew to the hospital. Officers from the inter-agency task force, as well as the Port of Spain gang unit, made a swift response to the scene of the crime. The officials recovered several spent 9mm shells, a grim indicator of the violent encounter.
