At 12:20 p.m., the down‑hill direction between Kinoshita Interchange and Dunga Junction had an 8‑kilometre congestion near the Soso Tunnel.
Additional congestion details were as follows: in the up‑hill direction toward Yonehara, 1 km of congestion was reported at Tateyama Interchange, 8 minutes from Tateyama Interchange to Ryusugi Parking Area Smart, 3 km at Mikawa Interchange, and 16 minutes from Tokumitsu Parking Area Smart to Nomi‑ue Smart. In the down‑hill direction toward Niigata, 8 km of congestion was reported at the Soso Tunnel, 38 minutes from Kinoshita Interchange to Dunga Junction, 4 km at Nomi‑ue Smart Interchange, 24 minutes from Komatsu Interchange to Mikawa Interchange, 2 km at Ryusugi Parking Area Smart Interchange, and 19 minutes from Toyama Interchange to Tateyama Interchange.
The congestion was reported by the expressway operator. No accidents or incidents were cited; the traffic conditions were attributed to increased holiday travel.
