The 155th Hokushinetsu District High School Baseball Fukui Prefecture Tournament held its second-round matches on September 19 at two venues across the prefecture. In the second game held at Seiren Dream Stadium in Fukui City, Hokuriku defeated Nyu with a final score of 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals.
The game remained competitive through the early innings. Hokuriku opened the scoring in the top of the second inning when Takaguchi hit an RBI double to right-center field with two outs. Nyu responded in the bottom of the third inning, tying the game at 1-1 following a sacrifice fly with one out.
Both teams maintained a defensive stalemate through the fifth inning. In the top of the eighth, Hokuriku broke the tie when Oda hit an RBI triple to left-center field with two outs. Hokuriku secured the victory in the ninth inning by scoring four additional runs, highlighted by a leadoff home run from Makita and two subsequent RBI hits. Nyu was unable to generate further offense against the Hokuriku pitching staff after the fourth inning.
