Guyana: Guyana’s Junior Jaguars to Compete in Inaugural FIFA Global U-15 Boys Festival

Guyana’s Junior Jaguars are set to compete in the inaugural FIFA Global U-15 Boys Festival, which is scheduled to commence in October. This festival, organized by FIFA, aims to discover the next generation of international football stars and is exclusively for elite young players born in 2011 and 2012.

The tournament will utilize a fast-paced 8v8 playing format, designed by FIFA technical directors to enhance individual ball contact and improve decision-making on the field. To assemble a competitive 14-player roster, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will implement a comprehensive scouting strategy. This will involve data from the ongoing GFF Youth Ensemble Under-15 Championship and targeted talent searches within the Guyanese diaspora in North America and the United Kingdom.

GFF executives have described the invitation to the festival as a significant milestone for local youth, providing them with valuable international exposure and a clear development pathway.

In other news, Vryman’s Erven Secondary School claimed the Region 6 U-15 Girls Title by defeating Canje Secondary 1-0. The match featured a standout performance from Venicia Myers, who scored the decisive goal and was named Region 6’s Most Outstanding Player.

Additionally, Camptown FC and Timehri United FC advanced to the 2026–27 Elite League Playoff Final after winning their semi-final matches. Camptown FC defeated Potaro Strikers FC 3-0, while Timehri United FC triumphed over Beavers FC with a score of 4-0.

In cricket, the Beharry Group U-19 Schools Tournament saw Abram Zuil Secondary and Aurora Secondary achieve significant victories in their opening matches. Abram Zuil won by 10 wickets, while Aurora secured a 6-wicket win.

Lastly, Jonathan Van Lange has been added to the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the upcoming ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, replacing Amir Jangoo, who has been selected for the West Indies senior Test squad.
