Government Commits to National School Meal Programme by 2027

Federal Education Secretary Nadeem Mahbub announced the government’s commitment to launch a national school meal programme by 2027. Speaking at the National School Meal Conference 2026 organized by the Allah Walay Foundation in Islamabad, Mahbub said the programme would be rolled out in phases, starting with the most underprivileged districts. The announcement was met with applause from attendees, who see it as a crucial step toward fighting child malnutrition and improving education. The government plans to collaborate with NGOs and the private sector to ensure sustainable funding.
