Belmont Ambush: Ex-Accused Killed, Teen Critical

A violent ambush in Belmont has claimed the life of 28-year-old Kemar Miller and left three others injured, including a 14-year-old boy who is now fighting for his life. The attack took place on Davis Street around 9:00 p.m. on March 26, 2026. Miller, who was seated with three others on beer crates, was the main target of three masked gunmen who drove by in a grey AD wagon, opened fire, and fled the scene.

Miller, also known as ‘Jamakie’, was a known figure to the legal system. Only months prior, he had walked free from high-profile attempted murder charges due to a significant breakdown in the judicial process that saw prosecutors repeatedly fail to meet court-ordered deadlines. While the Homicide Region 1 Bureau is leading the investigation into the attack, no official link has been made between Miller’s past legal troubles and the deadly ambush. However, sources indicate that police are exploring his history and the 2025 attack as a potential motive.

The other victims of the shooting are a 24-year-old male and a 27-year-old male, both in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to the chest. The 27-year-old managed to flee the scene and is currently stable. Investigators recovered a .45 calibre firearm and 5.56 calibre ammunition from the scene.

Despite the ongoing investigation and the severity of the incident, no arrests have been made at this time. As the community grieves and awaits justice, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the violence that can erupt in the blink of an eye.
