Zim Woman Forced Into Sex for Cruise Ship Job, Then Faces Revenge Porn – Police Investigate

This report covers zim woman forced into with key details and context.

A harrowing tale of alleged sexual abuse and cyberbullying has emerged from Kuwadzana Extension in Harare, where a woman claims she was lured into a web of deceit by a man promising a lucrative cruise ship job. The woman, whose identity is protected, alleges that Tariro Takawira demanded US$800 for job placement and later coerced her into sex, secretly recording the act and distributing the video to her boyfriend’s brother.

According to the victim, a member of Takawira’s alleged syndicate, identified only as Faith, told her that job documents would only be processed if she ‘did the right thing’ – bedding Takawira. Despite her resistance, Takawira lured her to a lodge and had unprotected sex with her, filming it without her consent. The video was then sent to her boyfriend’s younger brother in an attempt to wreck the relationship.

The police have confirmed an investigation is underway. Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza stated, ‘Police are investigating a case involving a Kuwadzana Extension man for cyber bullying and sexual abuse. The suspect is yet to be arrested.’ The victim said she faces ongoing threats from Takawira, who boasts of connections to a senior police officer.

Takawira has denied the allegations, claiming he only helped the woman with her CV and that she still owes him US$100. He said he never dated her and treated her like a daughter. The case underscores the prevalence of fraudulent overseas job schemes targeting desperate Zimbabweans, with the government warning citizens to exercise vigilance.

The Cyber and Data Protection Act (2021) criminalises cyberbullying and non-consensual sharing of intimate images, with penalties of up to five years in prison. As the investigation continues, the victim’s courage in coming forward serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking behind false promises of a better life abroad.
