Epworth Woman Dies After Using Street-Bought Herbal Genital Enlargement Medicine

This report covers epworth woman dies after with key details and context.

A 21-year-old Epworth woman, Jacqueline Gatsi Terepi, died on July 26, 2025, after applying an unregulated herbal product meant to enlarge her genitals. The tragedy has reignited calls for strict regulation of traditional medicines sold by street vendors.

Jacqueline, a divorced mother of a two-year-old, obtained the medicine from co-tenants who had purchased it from itinerant vendors. According to landlady Progress Sambare, Jacqueline locked herself in her room and applied the substance. Soon after, she screamed for help, complaining of a burning sensation. She began vomiting, developed rashes, and ran outside in distress before collapsing.

Despite being rushed to local traditional healers for assistance, Jacqueline died at her home. The vendors were arrested, and her body was sent for examination. Traditional healer Annah Muzimbi, who tried to help, noted that Jacqueline’s genitals were excessively swollen and she was foaming at the mouth.

The Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) has linked such unregulated herbs to a rise in cervical cancer. Nurse Fungai Mushosho warned, ‘Don’t put inside your body what you do not know.’ George Kandiero of Zinatha urged people to avoid buying medicines from unlicensed street vendors.
