Young Slams ‘Worst’ Cabinet in Trinidad and Tobago’s History

Stuart R. Young, SC, MP has recently issued a statement targeting Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s Cabinet, describing it as the ‘worst’ in the history of Trinidad and Tobago. Young accuses the Cabinet of incompetence, immaturity, ignorance, and hubris, particularly pointing to the Hyatt Lime fete during the Carnival season. Minister Barry Padarath has come under specific criticism for his behaviour on stage. Young alleges abuse of public office and disrespect to citizens, linking this to the alleged firing of over 40,000 workers from various sectors. These workers, Young argues, are now struggling vulnerable citizens, while ministers enjoyed an expensive fete. Young also cites increased economic pressures such as higher taxes, electricity rates, and natural gas prices, which he claims have raised the cost of living, led to job losses in the private sector, and reduced competitiveness and forex earnings for manufacturers. The statement ends with a call for the removal of ministers from the Cabinet and a warning about hubris.
