Yancarlos Simanca, a deputy of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the Dominican Republic, said on Sunday that the political project of Mayor Carolina Mejía will provide many opportunities for young people. Simanca explained that the proposal builds on the employment initiatives for youth that were launched by President Luis Abinader’s administration. “The project will continue to follow the plan that President Abinader has developed, with the purpose of expanding opportunities for Dominican youth,” he said. He also highlighted the role of the youth in Mejía’s campaign, noting that the party’s youth coordinator, Fernando Lagares, is a “talented, hardworking and committed young man.” “We have the best youth coordinator a party could have, and his name is Fernando Lagares,” Simanca added. The deputy’s remarks were made in response to a question about how young people are being incorporated into Mejía’s political agenda and the measures being proposed to improve their access to employment.
