Worker stabbed during robbery as commuters demand increased bus route

Nightmare on Priority Bus Route: Worker Stabbed as Commuters Demand Police Presence Amid Robbery Spike

A Venezuelan national is currently warded in hospital after being violently robbed and stabbed along the Priority Bus Route in Tacarigua—an area commuters say has become increasingly unsafe at night.

The victim, identified as Williams Castillo, was attacked by two young men on Tuesday evening while heading home from work. Reports indicate that Castillo had just left the Orange Grove Road (South) industrial area, where several businesses operate late shifts, and was waiting along the bus route for transportation when he was approached.

According to reports, the assailants, armed with knives, robbed Castillo before stabbing him in the chest. He sustained a punctured lung and remains in serious condition.

Commuters and workers in the area say the attack is part of a growing trend. They claim that individuals matching similar descriptions frequently target people around 10 p.m., particularly those leaving late-night jobs.

Residents and employees are now voicing concern over what they describe as insufficient police patrols along the Priority Bus Route, especially during peak evening hours.

Many say they no longer feel safe using the route, a critical transit corridor for both locals and Venezuelan nationals.

“This isn’t the first incident,” one commuter said. “People just trying to get home, and they’re being attacked.”

Calls are intensifying for increased police visibility and regular patrols, as workers urge authorities to take action before another serious incident occurs.
