Over the past weekend, an operation led by the South Western Division resulted in the detention of eleven suspected Venezuelan nationals, one of whom is a minor, and the seizure of contraband. The operation, named HELIOS, was conducted in the Erin district with the support of Task Force Areas East and West officers, personnel of the Erin Police Station, the Canine Unit, and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force. Acting on intelligence, officers found the suspects hiding in a bushy area of the Erin Beach Facility. Additional searches along the shoreline led to the discovery of 112 bottles of alcohol and quantities of sausage and cheese. The Immigration Division was informed and is currently investigating the situation. The operation was sanctioned by DCP ‘Operations’ Suzette Martin, led by Snr. Supt. Thompson, and coordinated by ASPs Corrie and Forbes.
