Vaguada provocará aguaceros y tormentas eléctricas en varias provincias

Dominican Republic Weather Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Heat Expected This Week The Dominican Meteorological Institute (Indomet) has issued a weather forecast for the coming days, warning of localized showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several provinces. Friday Outlook Indomet reports that a trough, daytime heating, and moisture transport will produce brief showers in coastal Caribbean towns during the morning, with precipitation easing as the day progresses. In the afternoon, the combination of daytime warming, easterly/southeast winds, and a trough north of the country will favor cloud cover and moderate rainfall. Affected provinces include La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Peravia, San José de Ocoa, Barahona, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, La Vega, Duarte, Monseñor Nouel, Samaná, and the northern part of the Greater Santo Domingo area. The forecast also notes the possibility of occasional lightning and wind gusts. The National Forecast Center has adjusted its alert levels for sudden urban flooding, river and stream surges, and landslides. While meteorological alert levels have been discontinued, an advisory remains in effect for Santiago and La Vega provinces. Heat Advisory Indomet cautions that temperatures will remain high. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear light, light-colored clothing, and remain in cool, ventilated areas. Exposure to direct sunlight between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. should be avoided, especially for children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Minimum temperatures are expected to range from 22 °C to 23 °C, with highs between 30 °C and 32 °C. Saturday Forecast On Saturday, the morning will feature mostly clear skies across most of the country. In the afternoon, easterly and northeasterly winds, together with a high‑level trough, may increase cloudiness. This could lead to localized showers, moderate thunderstorms, and occasional wind gusts, particularly in the northeast, southeast, and central mountain regions. The forecast remains subject to change as conditions evolve. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to monitor updates from Indomet and local authorities.
