Urgent Blood Appeal for Shot Officer in La Romaine; Suspect Apprehended

In a shocking incident, police officer PC Koon Koon was shot before midnight on Friday, April 3, 2026. The incident took place on La Fortune Pluck Road, in La Romaine, an area known locally as ‘the turning point.’ The officers were responding to a report of an armed man when PC Koon Koon sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Following the incident, Koon Koon was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment and surgery. In connection to the shooting, an 18-year old suspect has been apprehended, although the authorities are yet to release full details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident.

In the wake of this event, there has been an urgent public appeal for blood donations. The Blood Bank at the San Fernando General Hospital is welcoming donations today, April 4, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to assist, with a specific appeal for O Positive blood. Those wishing to donate should state that the donation is for PC Koon Koon.
