United States: Man Passes Away After Riding Roller Coaster At New Florida Amusement Park Epic Universe

This report covers united states: man passes with key details and context.

A patron at Epic Universe, a newly opened amusement park in Florida, has died following a ride on one of its roller coasters. According to reports from the Associated Press, authorities in Florida confirmed that a man in his 30s was found unresponsive after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster on Wednesday, September 18. Emergency medical services transported the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether he was visiting the park alone or accompanied by others. The Stardust Racers is described on the park’s website as a “breathtaking, dual-launch coaster” that reaches speeds of up to 62 mph (100 kph).

In response to the incident, a spokesperson for Universal Orlando Resorts expressed their devastation and extended condolences to the man’s family. The spokesperson stated, “We are fully cooperating with Orange County and the ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed.” Epic Universe, which opened in May, features five themed sections and a 500-room hotel, marking the first major traditional theme park opening in Florida since 1999.

Florida’s largest theme parks, including Universal and Walt Disney World, are not subject to state safety inspections but conduct their own safety protocols. They are required to report any injuries or fatalities to the state. Since the opening of Epic Universe, there have been three reported incidents involving patrons experiencing health issues after riding the Stardust Racers. In one case, a 63-year-old man with a preexisting condition reported dizziness, while a 47-year-old woman experienced visual disturbances and numbness.

Additionally, a 32-year-old man reported chest pains after riding the Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. Other theme parks in the area have also reported incidents this year, including a 78-year-old woman who became unresponsive on a carousel at SeaWorld and an 87-year-old woman who lost consciousness after riding the Dinosaur attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
