In a surprising turn of events, a female police officer has been charged with the assault of a school safety officer at the St. James Secondary School. The incident which occurred in September 2025, resulted in the victim, Shaka Wallace, sustaining a burst lip and other injuries. The officer, who has served for over a decade, has a child attending the same school.
The situation escalated when the officer allegedly sent threatening voice notes to students who had teased her child about her hair. CCTV footage paints a troubling picture, as it shows the officer confronting the students and subsequently getting into a physical altercation.
The victim, Shaka Wallace, felt traumatized by the officer’s demeanor following the assault. Wallace, who bravely intervened in the situation, made a formal report to the police and sought immediate medical attention.
The incident has sparked an ongoing investigation. The director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, has called for the officer to be formally charged via summons.
