Colm Hayes, an Irish radio personality, has shared the news of the passing of his wife, Anne Laird-Caffrey, who died peacefully on Tuesday at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital. Anne had been living with cancer for six years and was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

In a tribute posted on Instagram, Hayes expressed his sorrow, stating, “My beautiful wife Anne passed yesterday morning after living with cancer for 6 years. She was an amazing, brave woman who lived life to the very end. Her smile will never be forgotten.” Anne’s death notice reflects the deep impact she had on her family and friends, describing her as the “glue that bound us all together” and noting her incredible kindness and warmth.

Anne is survived by her father Sylvester, husband Colm, daughter Holly, son Alex and his fiancée Laura, as well as her siblings Paul, Mark, Trish, Martin, Therese, Steven, and Tara. The notice also mentions her uncle, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will deeply feel her loss.

Her funeral arrangements include a repose at Massey Bros. Funeral Home in Newtown Park on Friday, September 19th, from 5 PM to 7 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, on Saturday, September 20th, at 10 AM.

Colm Hayes’ co-host on Classic Hits, Lucy Kennedy, was among the first to offer her condolences, stating, “Haysey, I love you very much and I’m here for you all, whenever you need me. X.” Earlier this year, Colm had shared that Anne was diagnosed with stage-four metastatic breast cancer five years ago, and he reflected on the challenges they faced together during this time.

He emphasized the importance of living with cancer rather than dying by it, acknowledging the emotional toll it took on both of them. Colm noted that while he appeared to be coping well on the outside, the reality was more complex. He also mentioned the support available for those affected by cancer, highlighting the Macmillan Support Line, which offers confidential assistance to individuals living with cancer and their loved ones.
