A devastating landslide in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district claimed two lives and left five injured when a massive boulder crashed onto a passenger bus and two light motor vehicles at Ragi Nallah on July 19. The heavy impact caused extensive damage, triggering panic among commuters. Rescue teams, including NDRF, SDRF, police, and army personnel, rushed to the scene, evacuating the injured to a nearby hospital before transferring them to Government Medical College Jammu for specialized care. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating on X that emergency teams are on high alert across vulnerable areas. He also noted that key roads in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Udhampur have been reopened, and water supply restoration is ongoing. Meanwhile, three radial gates of the Baghlihar Hydel Project were opened to manage rising reservoir levels due to heavy rains.
