Turkey Offers to Include Lebanon in Hejaz Railway Project

Turkey has expressed its willingness to include Lebanon in the project to revive the Hejaz Railway, a move that was discussed during high-level official talks, including meetings with Turkish leadership in Ankara. The goal of the project is to reconnect regional trade corridors and strengthen economic partnerships and land transport among nations in the region.

The Hejaz Railway, a narrow-gauge railway with a track width of 1,050 mm, is a historic railway line that once connected the region. Turkey’s offer to include Lebanon in the project aims to revitalize this railway line and promote regional trade and economic cooperation.

According to reports, the proposal was made during meetings between Lebanese and Turkish officials in Ankara, where the two sides discussed ways to strengthen their economic ties and enhance regional connectivity. The inclusion of Lebanon in the Hejaz Railway project is expected to boost the country’s economy and improve its trade relationships with neighboring countries.
