TTPS Officer Arrested in DEA-Led Cocaine Trafficking Sting

An active-duty officer from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has been arrested, along with two other nationals, in a joint operation led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The arrests were carried out on December 30, 2025, by the DEA’s Vetted Unit and TTPS’s Special Investigative Unit and Transnational Organized Crime Unit. The three arrested individuals, named Rafael Joseph, Michael McSween, and Clevon Persad, face charges in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York for conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States and firearms-related offences. The operation is hailed as a significant success in bilateral law enforcement cooperation and a strong example of international partnerships to combat drug trafficking, firearms offences, and public corruption.
