Donald Trump has offered Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) chief executive Dana White the position of White House press secretary, according to a statement from White. The UFC president said he will meet with the former president on Monday to discuss the offer. White made the announcement at a conference following a boxing event in London on Saturday. He added that he would travel to the White House to talk with Trump about the role. Trump posted the invitation on Truth Social earlier that day, writing, “Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!” He also requested that White bring assistants, noting that some would not be from the United States. In a separate post, Trump shared photographs of six current and former UFC title holders, including Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov from Russia’s Dagestan region; Americans Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, and Kayla Harrison; and Brazilian Amanda Nunes, who became a U.S. citizen last year. Trump said, “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left.” The White House press secretary position has been vacant since Katie Zacharia’s brief tenure ended last month after five days. Zacharia had succeeded Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down at the end of August. White and Trump first worked together in the early 2000s, and their relationship strengthened after White publicly endorsed Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Trump has attended several UFC events, and in June the White House hosted a night of UFC fights to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary. The White House press office already includes a former UFC spokesperson: Steven Cheung, who served as Director of Communications for the UFC from 2013 to 2016. Cheung shared Trump’s message on X, saying, “Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite! It’ll just be like old times!”
