**SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica** — The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) has issued a weather alert as Tropical Wave No. 40 moves across Costa Rica. The system is expected to increase atmospheric moisture and instability, resulting in widespread rain and thunderstorms throughout Sunday afternoon.
According to the IMN, the weather pattern follows early morning reports of maritime rainfall along both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
