An inmate, Travis Curtis, successfully escaped from Port of Spain Prison in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The escape took place around 10:00 a.m. when Curtis scaled the western perimeter wall of the prison, breaching lawful custody. The prison officers, along with the Emergency Response Unit, managed to recapture the escapee in the vicinity of Abercromby Street, Port of Spain, by approximately 10:18 a.m., just about 18 minutes after his escape. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is now investigating the incident and considering whether additional charges will be laid for escaping legal custody. The Prison Service commended its officers for their vigilance and professionalism, and the public is thanked for their cooperation. Further updates will be provided if necessary.
