In a major stride for national security, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service officially launched the Diplomatic Security Unit (DSU) yesterday. This landmark initiative aims to safeguard the country’s diplomatic missions, which include 28 embassies and high commissions, reinforcing Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to international diplomatic protocols.
The DSU is poised to serve as a dedicated guardian for these international entities, ensuring that their safety and dignity are prioritized. At the launch event, Police Commissioner emphasized that this unit is not only about security; it’s also about nurturing trust within the diplomatic community. “We must demonstrate that Trinidad and Tobago honors its obligations and values the relationships that diplomacy fosters,” he stated.
With crime and threats evolving, the DSU embodies a proactive approach, reflecting a commitment to protect and respect the inviolability of diplomatic missions. As Trinidad and Tobago embraces its role in the international arena, the DSU aims to build stronger partnerships that support trade, investment, and cooperation across borders.
