Tianna Guy Shuts Down Retirement Rumours, Thanks T&T for Overwhelming Support
Trinidad and Tobago boxer Tianna “Maripose” Guy has reassured supporters that she has no intention of stepping away from the sport, issuing a public statement to silence speculation about her future and express gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received.
Guy revealed that she was genuinely surprised by the level of encouragement she has received from across the country, saying she never realised boxing had such a strong and passionate following in Trinidad and Tobago.
She noted that the public’s support extends beyond her personal journey, describing it as a positive sign for the future of the sport. According to Guy, the backing shown by fans today can help create greater opportunities for the next generation of Trinidad and Tobago boxers, allowing young athletes to benefit from the foundation laid by those who came before them.
Addressing rumours that she was considering retirement, Guy delivered a clear message to supporters.
“I’m not quitting,” she declared.
The boxer said far too much has been invested in her career for her to walk away now. She pointed to the sacrifices made by her team, the support provided by the Government, and the unwavering belief shown by the people of Trinidad and Tobago as reasons she remains determined to continue.
“We are seeing this through to the very end,” she said, reaffirming her commitment to representing the country and pursuing success in the ring.
