**The Gambia and Senegal Urged to Define Common Border After Military Post Incident**
Senegalese soldiers arrived at the Bulock Military Border Post in Foni Kansala, located in the West Coast Region, on the afternoon of Thursday, July 16, 2026. According to reports, the soldiers demolished approximately 200 meters of the newly constructed perimeter fence surrounding a Gambia Armed Forces installation. Public funds for the construction of the fence had previously been approved by the National Assembly.
The incident has renewed attention on the ongoing need for The Gambia and Senegal to formally demarcate their shared international boundary.
