Symon de Nobriga Calls for Answers Over Leaked Audio
PNM Social Media Officer and Member of Parliament for Diego Martin Central, Symon de Nobriga, is calling for an investigation into how a widely circulated audio recording entered the public domain, arguing that the country’s attention should be on the alleged leak rather than the contents of the recording itself.
In a video shared on social media, de Nobriga said the recording has spread rapidly across Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok and other platforms, but maintained that the more important issue is whether an alleged intercepted private communication was improperly disclosed.
“If this is an intercepted private communication, the country deserves answers,” he said.
De Nobriga argued that, if genuine, the leak raises serious concerns about the security of sensitive information and the use of State powers.
“At best, this is a serious breach of our national security systems. At worst, it raises troubling questions about the use of State power,” he said.
He called on the Commissioner of Police, the Attorney General, the Minister of Homeland Security and the Prime Minister to explain how the recording came to be publicly circulated and whether an investigation has been launched into the alleged leak.
According to de Nobriga, the issue extends beyond politics and should concern every citizen, as it raises broader questions about privacy, accountability and public confidence in the institutions responsible for protecting private communications.
