Teenager Missing After Mayaro Resort Drowning Incident

A 17-year-old student named Gabriel Nelson is still missing after a drowning incident at a beach in the Mayaro Resort Area. The incident occurred on Sunday while Gabriel and relatives were bathing in chest-deep water a few feet from the shore. Gabriel’s mother was alerted to her son’s distress, but he did not resurface. Despite the extensive search efforts involving local police, Coast Guard, National Air Guard, and local volunteers, Gabriel has not been found. The family received aid from the Rio Claro/Mayaro Regional Corporation, who provided makeshift accommodations as the search extended into the night.
