A tragic road traffic accident on the Monroe Road Flyover has left one man dead after a pickup lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.
According to police reports, the incident occurred along the southbound lane when a black Toyota Hilux travelling south suddenly veered out of control. The vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with a black Kia Cerato that was proceeding northbound.
The driver of the Kia, identified as Michael King, sustained severe injuries in the collision. He was reportedly trapped inside the wreckage and had to be cut out by emergency responders. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The impact of the crash caused significant damage to both vehicles, highlighting the force of the collision.
Investigations are ongoing to determine what caused the Hilux to lose control. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether speed, mechanical failure, or road conditions played a role.
This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety, particularly along high-speed roadways and flyovers. Drivers are being urged to remain vigilant, adhere to speed limits, and exercise caution at all times.
More details are expected as the investigation continues.
