Sri Lanka Launches First International Trilingual Literary Festival in Colombo

Sri Lanka marked a milestone in its cultural history on January 24 as the Colombo Literary Festival 2026, the country’s first international trilingual literary festival, officially opened its doors. The festival aims to provide equal space for Sinhala, Tamil, and English languages, bringing together writers, poets, and readers from across the nation and beyond. Inaugurated under the patronage of the Minister of Health and Mass Media, the event signals a new chapter for Sri Lanka’s literary and cultural arts. Organizers say the festival seeks to elevate the country’s creative landscape by fostering dialogue and exchange among diverse linguistic communities. The Colombo Literary Festival 2026 runs for multiple days, featuring panel discussions, book launches, and performances, all intended to celebrate Sri Lanka’s rich linguistic heritage.
