A 25-year-old man from Bamboo Village, La Romaine, is now in police custody after officers discovered a firearm and ammunition in his possession during a late-night operation. The arrest took place around 10 p.m. on April 29, 2026, along Jamadar Street in San Fernando, as disclosed by the officers from the San Fernando Police Station.
The police officers were in the midst of a warrant operation when they noticed a suspicious man standing near a parked vehicle. Upon noticing the approaching officers, the man allegedly threw a multicoloured side bag into the car. The officers intercepted the man and proceeded to search the bag.
Inside the bag, they reportedly found a black metal firearm resembling a Beretta, a magazine, and 12 rounds of 9mm-type ammunition. Recognizing the severity of the situation, they immediately arrested the suspect and transported him to the San Fernando Police Station.
The police are currently continuing their enquiries, with charges for possession of a firearm and ammunition expected to be levied against the suspect.
