Rio Claro Residents Protest for Jobs and Reforestation Efforts

Residents of Rio Claro have taken to the streets to demand job opportunities and a commitment to reforestation following land clearances for the Cascadura project. Ravi Ratiram, a government minister, confirmed that the Cabinet has approved a reforestation initiative in response to these concerns. Ratiram’s endorsement follows pressure from local groups, including the Rio Claro Unemployment Association, which has been vocal about the need for job creation tied to environmental conservation efforts in the area.

“We have listened to the concerns of the community, and it’s clear that both environmental restoration and employment opportunities are needed,” Ratiram said. “The government is committed to addressing these by incorporating local labour into the reforestation initiative.”
