President Dr. Irfaan Ali reaffirmed Guyana’s sovereignty over the Essequibo region during the country’s 60th Independence Anniversary celebrations held at Fort Island in Essequibo. Speaking to a large crowd, President Ali declared that the Essequibo territory “is Guyana’s,” emphasizing the nation’s claim over the area.

The event marked a significant milestone in Guyana’s history, celebrating six decades of independence. In his address, President Ali extended a hand of friendship to the people of Venezuela, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation and dialogue.

The celebration included various cultural displays and activities that showcased Guyana’s rich heritage and unity. Additionally, President Ali announced a collaboration with India to perform a historic robotic cardiac surgery, which is set to take place on the same day.
